There is an unusual surge in adolescents visiting emergency rooms and urgent care with suicidal ideation and suicide attempts. This is a conversation we need to have at home. Asking about suicide will not put the idea in your child’s mind, instead it will send the message that if they ever think about it they can come to you for support. Asking about suicide is an effective way to prevent suicide.
